Insurance
Coastal Pointe Counseling does not accept insurance for a number of reasons.
When a claim in submitted to insurance, a diagnosis for the client is required as soon as the initial therapy session has taken place, and the information is kept on record indefinitely. This information may be accessed and used in the future by parties such as life insurance companies. This is also a very fast turn-around time in assessing an individual’s mental health and can put a focus on “categorizing” instead of treating.
Many insurance companies also limit how many sessions and the length of those sessions they believe are appropriate for an individual’s treatment.
There are also several counseling needs and diagnoses insurance does not cover, including Couple’s counseling, separation or divorce counseling, major life transitions, and socioeconomic factors.
Some insurance plans offer “Out-of-Network” coverage that can help cover the cost of sessions. For this option, a client will pay for their sessions directly, and request what is called a “superbill.” A superbill is a detailed receipt that the client submits to their insurance in order to request reimbursement. Please be aware that this does not guarantee reimbursement, and it is the client’s responsibility to verify their own out-of-network coverage. Please inquire with us for additional information.
Payment
All major debit and credit cards are accepted as a form of payment, as well as HSA and FSA payments.
Cancellation Policy
Cancelling an appointment with less than 24 hour’s notice will result in an immediate cancellation fee of $145.
A no-show to a scheduled appointment will result in a fee of $145.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care with cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a good faith estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. You will be provided with a good faith estimate at least one business day before your initial session with Coastal Pointe Counseling. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your good faith estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your good faith estimate.
